Caves Beach Coastal Bar & Bungalows Wedding | Dana & Blake | Central Coast NSW

Dana and Blake's wedding at Caves Beach Coastal Bar & Bungalows was one of those days I'd happily shoot again in a heartbeat.

This was actually my first time at this venue — and I was impressed from the moment I arrived. Everything is on-site: accommodation, ceremony space, reception area, all of it. There's no shuttling guests across town, no split locations, no stress. Couples and their guests arrive, settle in, and stay. It creates a really relaxed atmosphere that starts long before the ceremony does, and that looseness shows up in the photos.

Then there's the location itself. Caves Beach is one of those pockets of the Central Coast that doesn't need any help looking beautiful. The beach is right there. The caves are right there. The parks nearby give you natural light, great backdrops, and plenty of space to work with. For the bridal party shoot, we had options — and that always makes for better photos.

The Day

Dana and Blake are exactly the kind of couple I love photographing. Relaxed, genuine, easy with each other — and Dana had clearly brought the good energy from the start of the morning. The bride preparation shots have a great feel to them, unhurried and natural.

The ceremony itself was held on-site, which meant the whole day had a lovely flow to it. No rushing from one location to another. Guests could relax, and so could I — which is when the best candid moments tend to happen.

The Bridal Party Shoot

With the beach and caves just a short walk from the venue, we had a genuinely beautiful setting to work with. I love locations like this — natural light, interesting textures, and a sense of place that you can't fake. Dana and Blake were great to work with, which makes the job easy.

The Reception

The reception at Caves Beach Coastal Bar & Bungalows has a great atmosphere — relaxed, open, and well-suited to a celebration that doesn't take itself too seriously. Speeches, dancing, the good stuff. And because everything was on-site, nobody had to rush anywhere. The night wound down at its own pace.

A Note on Caves Beach & Lake Macquarie Wedding Photography

Caves Beach sits on the southern shores of Lake Macquarie, about an hour north of Sydney and a short drive south of Newcastle. It's a great option for couples who want a coastal feel without being locked into the more popular — and often more expensive — venues further up the coast.

If you're looking for a wedding photographer for Caves Beach, Lake Macquarie, or anywhere across the Central Coast and Hunter Valley, I'd love to hear from you.
